Houston Fire Department Vehicle Crashes into Car

HOUSTON — A Houston Fire Department SUV struck a car Wednesday after the car failed to stop at a stop light, investigators said.

The HFD supervisor was en route to an emergency around 10:15 p.m., driving westbound on Airport Boulevard when the Houston auto accident occurred. The driver of the car was headed northbound on Telephone Road and crossed past the red light. The HFD truck had its lights and sirens activated, and a street light sensor, according to police.

The fire department SUV hit the side of the car, causing it to spin around. The woman driving the car was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital and was in stable condition. The woman would be checked for intoxication, according to reports.

Accident investigators said the driver of the car is at-fault for the accident and that she had no driver’s license or proof of insurance. The HFD supervisor was uninjured.
